Today we will start a study on the book of Genesis which I very easy to find in your bible since it is on page 1.
Who wrote Genesis? Most scholars agree that Moses wrote Genesis while at Mt. Sinai. right after exiting Egypt in the Exodus.
Where does Genesis take place? At first the setting is Eden where Adam and eve are placed but most of the action in the latter parts of the book take place in what we would call Israel and Egypt.
The word Genesis is actually a Greek word that gignesthai which means "to be born". but the early Jewish people used the Hebrew word which means bereshith which means "in the beginning" which is how the book begins.
You will see Jesus even in the first sentence. After all, There is another book of the bible that starts "in the beginning" and that is the gospel of John which begins "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God."
