judge or judge not?

Today we look at what may be the most taken out of context passage Matt. 7:1-5

¹ "Judge not, that you be not judged. ² For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. ³Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? ⁵You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Now before look at this passage let's look the very versatile word judge in the Greek. according to www.blueletterbible.com lexicon there are 6 Greek words in the new testament that are translated to judge.

the first one is

kritēs

which means:

1) one who passes or arrogates to himself, judgment on anything

a) an arbiter

b) of a Roman procurator administering justice

c) of God passing judgment on men

d) of the leaders or rulers of the Israelites

Now is Jesus against that? I don't think so because that would be a contradiction to when Jesus told Pilate that he had authority to judge from God.

The Greek word here is:

krinō

 which means to condemn to write them off

You in 1 Corinthians 5 there is man in a sin that Paul says to expel but even that was not a final decision because in 2 Corinthians 2 he says welcome him back because he learned his lesson.

now in verse 6 i think relates to this because it is telling us to judge but no hypocritical but discernment which is a gift of the Holy Spirit.
